St. Patrick's Day

This weekend we attended "the largest St. Patrick's Day celebration in the East Midlands." It was actually kind of small, which makes me wonder if anyone else in the East Midlands holds any kind of celebration at all, but we had a good time until it started hailing.

The charity partner was the Irish Wolfhound Charitable Trust, but I saw photos of the royals hanging out with the same dogs, so I guess it's a thing for them to be around on St. Patrick's Day.

There was quite a bit of waiting around for the parade to start. Some of the puppers got tired.

This one was the best one. He loooved his owner and just nonstop snuggled with her.

The parade started, and after the dogs was Robin Hood and Maid Marian. I think this guy is the designated Robin Hood in town.

After that, there were some bagpipes, and then local chapters of Irish groups. It kind of looked at that point like anyone could walk in the parade, and in fact we did for a short while as we were trying to cross the street and then go a block down.

We ran a few errands before it started raining/hailing and decided to try another milkshake, to further our understanding of the British ice cream industry. It was a bit thicker than the last one we had at The Pudding Pantry, but still much thinner than the ones we're used to. But delicious all the same, and nice because it's not so heavy.

Lastly, here's a gorgeous magnolia in our neighborhood that thinks it's spring.
